The Whole Truth

David Baldacci

Grand Central Publishing

Nicholas Creel has a problem.  Nicholas is the CEO of the Ares Corporation, one of the world’s largest defense contractors and his company is in an economic downturn.
The solution is to start World War III and the way to do it is to have Dick Pender, a perception manager, lay the groundwork.  Pender and Creel came up with the perfect plan.  That is until Shaw, a man known only by his last name, and Katie James cross paths.  Shaw is an undercover operative for an independent intelligence operation and James is a disgraced journalist who is a past Pulitzer Prize winner.  The two sides square off in the ultimate battle of life or death with the winners determining the future of the world.

THE WHOLE TRUTH is a great read on two distinct levels.  For the person who just wants a non-stop thriller full of excitement and intrigue that you just can’t stop reading, this is a book for you.  The action is non-stop and Baldacci does an excellent job of developing the plot and the characters.  THE WHOLE TRUTH also works on a much deeper level.  After reading this book, I am intrigued by perception managing.  The more I think about it, the more it scares me.  Is what we see on TV news a natural outcome of world events or is history constantly being manipulated by perception managers?  This is a problem that can only be answered by the reader’s imagination.

THE WHOLE TRUTH is David Baldacci at his best.  Whether you are reading for pleasure or you really want to get deeply involved in a great story, this book is for you.
