Up, Down, and Around

This is the story of many different plants in the garden and the many different ways that they grow.  “…cucumbers climb around and around, peppers grow up. Potatoes grow down”.  After the children learn  how all the plants grow they pick them and have a garden lunch.

I really enjoyed this book.  The pictures immediately draw the reader into the book. The pictures illustrate the up, down or around very well.  I pictures of  the kids little feet in the vines and plants is fun to look at.  Children will clearly understand how each plant grows and how different plants are in the garden.  The poem reads well and flows as the pages turn.  This would be perfect for a teacher doing a plant unit.  Children will enjoy reading this book as the pictures and words strongly reinforce each other. I would recommend this for two years through kindergarten.  This is a book you will want to read your child again and again.
