The Love Boat

Season One: Volume Two

Paramount Home Entertainment

“Love… Exciting and new.”   C’mon sing with me!  “Climb aboard… We’re expecting yoooooou!”  One can’t help but sing that song when you come across the TV show The Love Boat.  Merely hearing the intro song brings me back to my childhood in 1977 and watching this show week after week.

Recently Paramount Home Entertainment released the second volume of Season One of The Love Boat containing episodes that captured the hearts of Americans across the U.S.  We join Captain Stubing, Doc, Gopher, Isaac the Bartender, Julie and an all star cast of guests as they embark on 12 fun-filled voyages on four DVDs.  Episodes include “Cinderella/Too Hot To Handle/Family Reunion”, “Isaac’s Double Standard/One More Time/Chimpanzees”, “Taking Sides/Going By the Book/ A Friendly Little Game” and many more.  One special feature includes the original Movie of the Week, “The New Love Boat” which aired on May 5, 1970 and introduced the entire cast and crew of the Love Boat.  Other features include Episidic Promos which are basically the original pre-show set up of the episode.

Overall, The Love Boat Season One:  Volume Two brings the viewers back to a day where television was a little more innocent and yet a little suggestive leaving a little for the imagination.  Sure, there were parts to the show that could have been a little on the risqué side for its time but the show does keep its innocence and is clean enough for a family to watch.  All in all The Love Boat is a great piece of nostalgia that is a great addition to any DVD collection.
