I enjoy a good horror movie every now and then; what I do not enjoy is a bad horror movie on any day. Unfortunately for me I was subject to one of (in my opinion) one of the dumbest wannabe horror movie called Shutter. Not only was the story line weak, but the acting was horrible and it wasn’t scary at all.
Benjamin and Jane Shaw are newly married and travel to Japan shortly after their wedding so photographer Benjamin can do the photo shoot of a life time. On their way to their destination Jane hits a Japanese woman who is standing in the middle of the road with her car. After the rescue units arrive there is no sign of the woman and Benjamin and Jane continue on with their lives. Shortly thereafter both Benjamin and Jane start seeing apparitions of this woman as she begins to reveal herself through photographs taken by Benjamin. As time continues on friends of the couple start winding up dying in mysterious ways and they find that this apparition is behind these deaths. As Jane begins to investigate she finds a deep dark secret her new husband has been keeping from her which may be the key to all that is going on.
As painful as it was to write the review for Shutter, it was more painful to actually watch the movie. I honestly can’t recommend this movie to anyone. In fact I feel sorry for anyone who wasted their money seeing this movie in the theaters. Save a couple hours of your life and stay away from Shutter. It’s poorly written, badly acted and is an over all bad movie.
