Ted DeKker

Thomas Nelson

RENEGADE is book three in the Lost Books series from acclaimed author Ted DeKker.  The first two books (Chosen and Infidel) spend a great deal of time developing the characters (Johnis, Silvie, Darsal, and Billos) and their quests to find the Seven Lost Books of History.  Now in book three DeKker is getting to the "meat" of the story and Ted is certainly taking his readers deeper. This series has definitely brought out the best in DeKker and I feel it has raised more questions than answers concerning the Circle Trilogy and this has me captivated.

RENEGADE opens with Billos and his desires to touch the Book of Histories with blood, against the advice of the Roush.  Upon doing this he is “transported” to a new reality where he is introduced the infamous Marsuvees Black.  Black convinces Billos that he is the “chosen one” and sets him off to find three books of history that are located in the town of Paradise (which Circle readers are familiar).  Johnis, Silvie, Darsal, and the former Horde girl Karas go on a quest to find Billos, not knowing where to find him or how to get there.  Dedicated to the man she loves Darsal will do whatever it takes to save Billos from the lies that he is being fed by Black.

I have to admit I was a little skeptical of this series when I first started it, but with each book DeKker takes the reader deeper and deeper to a reality that we have been waiting years to go to.  Ted DeKker has been getting better and better with each book he writes and he has become, in my opinion, one the greatest Christian (and secular) fiction writers of our time.  I’ve said it before and I will say it again… If you have not picked up this series you NEED to do so right now and for a deeper experience pick up the Circle trilogy (Red, Black, White).  I guarantee you will beenthralled the moment you begin up to the point where it leaves off.
