One Tiny Turtle is the story of the struggle of this Loggerhead turtle from birth through to the laying of her first eggs, back where she was born thirty years before. The story gives many detailed facts about the size of the turtles, what they eat and where they go. Many facts are given to give the reader a real sense of how hard life is for these turtles. The book comes with a CD that reads the story, shares facts and then reads the story with turn-the-page signals.
I was amazed to find out how small turtles are when they are born. Davies wrote that when first in the water even a fish could bite through their soft shell and kill them. The facts are interesting. The book is beautifully illustrated with soft colors and explains very clearly all parts of a turtle’s life. The book was interesting to me, but not what I would consider to be a keeper. I would check this book out of the library. My five year old son on the other hand really enjoyed this book with the read along CD. He listened to it several times. So, as much as I only found it interesting he genuinely liked the book and I would buy it for him. The recording is well done with music and ocean sounds.
