My Father the Dog

Dad and the dog have many behaviors in common and they are cataloged for all to see in this book.  “In the car, he likes the window down and a breeze on his face. He has been known to use a tree for a quick pit stop.”  The comparisons between father and dog continue until the end when the narrator says they are allowed to keep him.

It is a cute tongue in cheek book. It is not a book I think would be pulled out again and again.  As an adult the comparisons between dad and dog are belittling to a dad, but it is done in fun.  It would make a cute gift for a dad for father’s day, but not much more.  The illustrations do make the book as cute as it is.  They are the real hit in this duo
