Little Green Frog

Frances Barry

Candlewick Press

The story of Little Green Frogs is about the life cycle of a frog.  Each page has one sentence about that stage of the frog’s life.  As each page is turned it becomes a large lily pad.

The story in this book flows well starting with eggs and ending as frogs. The last middle section flips down and tells children how to find, catch and raise tadpoles.  This book’s strong point is the construction of the book. As each page is flipped it opens at a slightly different angle and becomes a large group of lily pads that are covering the child’s lap.  I would recommend this book’s content for preschool and up.  In order for the child to understand how the book functions they need to be older to do it by themselves.  If the book is not closed correctly the story will then be out of order.  It is a book which is worth taking a look at especially this spring time.
