Nancy Moser is a best selling author of three books on humor and seventeen novels. She is not a rookie when it comes to writing.
John 3:16 is a tapestry of stories of 5 people. They come from different backgrounds, are different ages and have different life struggles. These five people’s lives intersect when William Paulson, the son of one of the main characters, Roman Paulson, is killed saving the life of a child at a church picnic.
Moser attempts to realistically portray some of the life struggles that real life people face in our day and age. By the time I was introduced to the “dirt” in each character’s life, I didn’t have much motivation to finish the book. By the end of the book I was disgusted with the fairy tale way that all the problems were wrapped up and taken care of - all at the expense of the one character who is living his faith and is a likeable character: Roman’s son, William.
The book started out too realistic for me, and ended up being too unrealistic. Overall this is not Nancy Moser's best effort thus I was not a big fan of John 3:16, the novel.
