Desperate Housewives is one of those shows I probably never would have watched had not my wife wanted to watch the series. This show is certainly targeted for the female audience, although it has crossed the line and does appeal to a large number of the male population as well (they just won’t admit it). This scandalous TV series first premiered in the fall of 2004 and quickly took the world by storm. The ladies of Wisteria Lane have captured the heart of viewers around the world and this show gives no signs of ever slowing down.
Desperate Housewives season four picks up right where season three left off and finds our beloved Wisteria ladies finding themselves in more predicaments than no group of women should ever allowed experience. Whether it’s faking a suicide attempt, dealing and overcoming a battle with cancer, riding out a tornado that ultimately destroys the neighborhood, or having to put up with the daily shenanigans of your dysfunctional neighbors this show has more twists than a bag of pretzels. But a show as quick and witty as this one you would expect no less. This four disc DVD set contains all 17 episodes from the fourth season and bonus features. Some of the features include a behind the scenes look at how an episode is made, a commentary on how the couples of Wisteria Lane function, bloopers and deleted scenes.
All in all I liked this season, but not nearly as much as the previous seasons. Of course a lot of this season was directly affected by the Writers Guild Strike but ultimately the show survived and will continue to see the light of day in 2008 – 2009. I would suggest this DVD set to anyone who has the rest of the series on DVD. I definitely would not recommend it be the first season to watch had you never seen an episode before. I would also hesitate to recommend this to individuals who tend to steer clear of sexual content and promiscuity as this show can push the bar on this.
