Count On Sports

Genius Productions

You’ve heard of ESPN, but now the folks at Sesame Street want to introduce to ESSN –Ernie’s Sports Show News!  For all you parents who thought that sports and math could never go hand in hand better think again as Ernie and the cast from Sesame Street bring you this wonderful DVD that deals with shapes, mathematical concepts, numbers and sports.  As already stated the whole cast of Sesame Street are present and acCOUNTed for in this fun-filled DVD.  Prairie Dawn shows her stuff as she teaches her skills at soccer and then joins Dominique Dawes (World Champion gymnast and Silver Medalist) who shows a little bit about gymnastics.  We also get to play a round of golf with the Count who likes to think golfing is about getting as many strokes as possible, and then we join him for the Transylvania 300.  Vince Carter from the NJ Nets plays a little one on one with Grover and teaches children about “short” and “tall”.  Of course it wouldn’t be Sesame Street without the loveable furry monster Elmo as he takes on Venus Williams in a little match of pretend tennis.  You’ll never guess who wins that one.

Overall Count on Sports is a great and educational DVD for pre-schoolers.  Of course two of my children are in school and that are entranced with the show as well (Sesame Street must be like a drug to some kids that they can’t seem to kick).  My older kids prefer the extra’s as they have a claymation series called “Bert and Ernies Animated Adventures”.  You have never seen Bert, Ernie and gang like this ever before.  Count on Sports is a must have for any family who has a Sesame Street addicted child.  If anything this DVD will help children learn a little about math and a little about sports, which can’t really be a bad thing.
