I was first motivated to read “The Blueprint” because of my ministry with high school and college aged students. It is not hard to see that young people growing up in our present day society have tremendous challenges to face if they want to live out their faith in any meaningful way. It seemed that this young man, Jaeson Ma, might have some insights on how I and other youth leaders can equip students to meet those challenges.
I have to say the book met my expectations many times over. I was impressed first of all with Jaeson Ma himself - with his testimony and life. He is living a radical, sold out life for Jesus and his Kingdom. Ma is articulate, knows the Word, and is well read concerning the history of revival and church history. He is intimate friends with giants of the faith from the past, and is connected with the emerging giants of the faith of today. These men and women are on the cutting edge of a powerful work of God around the world through their ministries.
Ma clearly and passionately communicates his zeal to raise up a new generation who will win souls for Christ’s kingdom through establishing campus houses of prayers, and planting simple churches in campuses all over the US and around the world. He and others who share this vision feel that they are raising up and equipping the generation that will reap a great end – time harvest of souls. It is not just a cold vision or wishful thinking, Ma sites proof after proof that God is blessing this vision in amazing ways.
Ma gives personal testimonies and stories of the power of God at work on campuses around the world, he motivates and teaches in simple practical ways how students might join the forces who are signing up in Jesus Christ’s army. In many ways it is a manual for establishing simple churches on campuses, and thus fulfills its name beautifully – it is a “Blueprint” that anyone can follow.
One of Ma’s mentors, Dr. Che’ Ahn, President of Harvest International Ministries, identifies Jaeson Ma as part of the “next wave of emerging leaders” that he believes will experience the greatest revival and ingathering of harvest throughout church history. Cindy Jacobs of Generals International calls Ma’s book a fire starter and predicts that it will change a generation.
I agree with those assessments wholeheartedly. “The Blueprint” is a must read for college and high school mentors and leaders, it is a must read for every student heading off to college. I already have a list of young people I am going to give it to.
This book is not a book to read, it is a book to live.
